The problem

Employers Don't Doubt What You Know. They Doubt What You've Done.

Courses can teach the vocabulary. Interviews test whether you can connect that vocabulary to work: what you assessed, what evidence you reviewed, what you found, how you thought about risk and what you did next.

That is the gap GRC Experience is designed to close.

The program focuses on four problems that certifications alone do not automatically solve.

Market reality

The Market Is Crowded. That Is Exactly Why Experience Matters.

Yes, hundreds of people apply for GRC roles. Many have certificates. Many have watched the same webinars. Many can define risk, controls, policies and frameworks.

That is not what separates people anymore.

The people who stand out can explain what they reviewed, what gap they found, what risk it created, what evidence supported it and what they recommended next.

That is the gap this program is built to close.

SkillHat

SkillHat helps you turn practical work into judgment, stories, positioning and employer credibility.

A portfolio can show activity. An interview tests judgment. We help you build both.

Who it's for

Your background isn't the problem. Translating it is.

Most people here aren't starting from zero. They've already worked in regulated, evidence-driven, risk-aware environments; the work just wasn't called GRC.

  • Audit
  • Compliance
  • Law
  • Banking
  • Finance
  • Privacy
  • Risk
  • Healthcare
  • Operations
  • Government
  • IT
  • Cybersecurity
  • Internationally trained professionals

The four gaps

Certifications Don't Close the Four Gaps.

01

Experience gap

You know the terms, but you do not yet have enough practical work to speak from.

02

Story gap

You cannot confidently answer questions like: tell me about a time you reviewed evidence, tested a control or identified a gap.

03

Positioning gap

Your background has value, but employers are not seeing how it maps to GRC.

04

Market gap

You are applying into a crowded market without a focused role, story and outreach strategy.

The result is not another line of theory on your resume. It is practical work you can show, explain and speak about with greater confidence.

GRC Experience Is Built to Close All Four.

01

Experience gap

Real project work across controls, evidence, testing and findings.

02

Story gap

Every project is converted into structured interview answers you can rehearse.

03

Positioning gap

Your background is mapped onto GRC language, on your resume and profile.

04

Market gap

A focused role, networking and application strategy instead of mass applying.

What you actually do

Focused project work with an assigned mentor. Not lecture slides.

You are not dropped into a team and left to hope for relevant work. Every week is spent on project work only: controls, evidence, risk, findings and recommendations, with structured feedback from a mentor who reviews what you produce.

Scope

Frame a real engagement: what's in scope, which controls matter and why.

Test

Work with evidence: request it, review it, judge whether a control holds.

Report

Write findings and risk language the business can act on.

Translate

Convert each project into resume lines and interview stories.

The outputs

What You Actually Build

This is not abstract. Every stage of the program produces practical GRC outputs you can walk into an interview and explain.

Control testing summary

What you reviewed, what evidence you used and whether the control worked.

Evidence review notes

What was missing, inconsistent or strong enough to support the finding.

Risk register entry

The risk, likelihood, impact, owner and treatment logic.

Gap finding

The weakness identified and why it matters to the business.

Remediation recommendation

What should change, who should own it and what good looks like.

Interview story

How to explain the project in a clear answer, not like course notes.

Resume bullet

How to turn the work into credible career positioning.

The goal is not just to finish tasks. The goal is to leave with work you can show, explain and turn into confident interview stories.

Inside the experience

Follow One Project From Brief to Interview Story.

This sample journey shows how practical work develops. You do not just complete a file. You learn to make a judgment, defend it and explain why it matters.

Scope: Define the engagement

Identify the business process, control objective, stakeholders and evidence needed before the review begins.

Review: Examine the evidence

Compare what the control says should happen with what the records show actually happened.

Find: Make the judgment

Decide whether the evidence supports the control, then explain the gap and the risk it creates.

Recommend: Write the next step

Turn the finding into a practical recommendation with a clear owner and a useful outcome.

Translate: Build the interview story

Explain what you reviewed, how you thought, what you found and why your recommendation mattered.

Clear on the format

This Is Not An Internship

An internship usually means being placed inside an organisation, reporting into its workflow and hoping the work you receive is relevant.

GRC Experience is different.

You are assigned a mentor. Your focus is project work only: controls, evidence, risk, findings, recommendations and the stories you need to explain that work clearly.

SkillHat works with T3 Consulting and other partners to create real-world project context, but you are not sent into a partner company as an intern. The structure is built for learning, feedback, credibility and interview readiness.

An internship

  • Placed into an organisation
  • Work depends on what the team gives you
  • Supervision can vary
  • May include unrelated admin or shadowing

GRC Experience

  • ✓ Assigned mentor
  • ✓ Focused project work only
  • ✓ Structured feedback
  • ✓ Built around evidence, controls, risks, findings and interview stories

04

Go to market

Resume, stories, networking and a focused application plan.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need a GRC certification first?

No. Certifications help, but employers hire for demonstrated delivery. Many members join with training and a professional background outside GRC.

Is this a job guarantee?

No. We build the practical experience, artifacts and stories that make you competitive. Hiring outcomes depend on your market and your effort.

How much time does it take?

A few focused hours a week. The work is project-based, so it flexes around a full-time job.

I trained outside Canada or the US. Does that matter?

It's one of the most common starting points here. The work is translating that background into the language local employers recognise.

What if I should be building a business instead?

Then we'll say so on the fit call and point you to Founder Studio.

Why not just buy a cheaper GRC project course?

If you only need files to complete, a project course may be enough. SkillHat is built for the harder gap: turning practical work into judgment, interview stories, positioning and a credible go-to-market plan.

Is the market too saturated?

The market is competitive. That is exactly why certificates and generic applications are weak on their own. The goal is not to remove competition. The goal is to help you compete with proof, story and focus.

Is this an internship?

No. It is not an internship placement. You are not sent into T3 Consulting or another partner company as an intern. You are assigned a mentor and work through focused GRC projects using real-world context, feedback and structure so you can build credible stories and practical fluency.

Already have enough experience and want to build a consulting business instead?
